Hailing from years that saw the Montreal Canadiens win their 18th and 20th Stanley Cup championships in franchise history over the Chicago Black Hawks and Boston Bruins respectively, the 1972-73 and 1976-77 O-Pee-Chee hockey card releases rang in with checklists of 341 and 396 cards for youngsters to chase throughout the season. Offered here, we present this pair of starter and near complete sets of the two releases. Starting with the earlier of the two offerings, the 1972-73 grouping features 283 of the 341 cards that are found within the checklist, with the group seen as being in the overall condition range of VG to VG-EX throughout. Including notable offerings such as 6-Checklist (GOOD - unmarked - worn and corner issues), 8-Dionne (VG-EX to EX - 2nd card - corner wear), 14-Clarke (VG-EX to EX - light corner wear), 19-Clarke (GOOD - unmarked - corner issues), 58-Orr "In Action" (G to VG - corner wear), 59-Lafluer (2nd card - multiple creases), 92-Plante (G to VG - stain on the front), 111-P. For the 1976-77 release grouping, far more complete with 389 of the 396 cards making up a complete set present and accounted for, the assembly is found to be in the overall condition ranges of VG-EX to EX with the key offerings present including those of 10-Parent (VG-EX to EX - slight corner wear and a small ding to the right border), 22-Salming (VG-EX to EX - with corner wear, 79-Clarke (FR to G - faded and corner wear), 91-Dionne (VG-EX to EX - light corner wear), 115-Trottier RC (EX to EX-MT - light surface "snow" on the front), 151-Robinson (VG-EX to EX - "snow" on the front surface), 213-Orr (FR to G - miscut at left border and crease at right side), 348-McDonald (VG-EX to EX - 70-30 centering) and 373-Williams (FR to G - worn plus corner wear/damage).
