Winning six Grand Prix races in a short career that lasted from 1978 until his untimely death in 1982, legendary Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve would finish 2nd in the 1979 Formula One World Drivers' Championship standings, four points behind Ferrari teammate Jody Scheckter. A hero even to this day in the Canadian sporting scene, with the track in Canada that hosts the country's yearly race baring his name (Circuit Gilles Villeneuve), offered here is this vintage 1980 Gilles Villeneuve Momo steering wheel that is found in new old stock condition in its original box. Measuring 350mm in diameter and covered in leather with finger grips all the way around the backside, the model offered here is the version with the horn button which sports a helmet design in the middle. Displaying a facsimile signature of Gilles' underneath the horn button, the reverse is engraved with ''Made in Italy'' and ''6-80'' with the numerals standing for the production month and year (June 1980). In as to be expected beautiful condition with just one scratch to the leather itself, the box that houses the racing relic is found in a respectable shape with surface wear, edge wear, corner wear and some small rips/tears.
