Routinely suiting up for Finland's National Team first at the junior level and then at the senior circuit throughout his esteemed career, Reijo Ruotsalainen would win a silver medal with his country at the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. Offered here, we present this "Player of the Game" award won by Ruotsalainen during a contest at the 1987 Canada Cup. Measuring 6" in height the 5" lucite slab featuring a 1986 Canada $20 coin encased in it above a Canada Cup event logo is mounted on a 1" tall wooden base that has a gold coloured metal plate affixed to the front that has had "Player of the Game - 1987" engraved into it. With the encased coin displaying the image of a goalie on one side as well as the logo of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics, the opposite side features the bust of Queen Elizabeth II. Remaining in excellent condition with light handling wear observed throughout, the piece hails from Ruotsalainen's personal collection and is accompanied by his signed LOA.
