This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Released during seasons that saw the likes of the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, New York Mets, Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Dodgers capture World Series championships at the end of the respective years, offered here is this collection of complete baseball card sets released by O-Pee-Chee that date between 1984 and 1988 totalling five (5). All featuring a heavy concentration of players from the north of the border based Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays, the 1984 set, missing cards #388 and #389 for completion and found to be in the overall condition range of EX-MT to NM for its effort, is led by the key rookie cards of Don Mattingly and Darryl Strawberry as well as stars such as 30-Boggs, 64-Sandberg, 66-Ryan and 363-Ripken while the 1985 assembly, presenting in the same EX-MT to NM range throughout, includes the key rookie card of Kirby Puckett at #10 in the checklist and star cards such as 30-Rikpen, 63-Ryan, 296-Sandberg, 350-Boggs and 383-Gwynn. With the other three (3) sets all seemingly in the familiar EX-MT to NM condition range after inspection that we have already seen with the first two (2), the 1986 OPC release includes the likes of 100-Ryan, 262-Boggs, 300-Brett and 340-Ripken in the top end condition neighbourhood while the likes of 1-Rose is seen as being in the scope of EX-MT due to a tiny amount of corner wear. Additionally card #10 of Tony Gwynn falls down into the proximity of VG-EX because of a top right corner that shows damage. For the 1987 set, the key's (all found in EX-MT to NM range) include 150-Boggs, 155-Ryan, 198-Gwynn, 247-Canseco (1st OPC card), 320-Bonds RC and 361-Clark RC while the 1988 grouping is paced by more EX-MT to NM cardboard of 74-Ripken, 200-Boggs, 250-Ryan, 267-Bonds (2nd card), 312-Brett and 360-Gwynn. Overall a wonderful grouping of 80s cardboard featuring the best names from the boys of summer to add to your all-important vintage collection.
