Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The first overall selection at the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Mike Modano spent nearly his entire career with the Minnesota/Dallas franchise, playing just 40 games outside of the organization as a member of the Detroit Red Wings during his final season of 2010-11. The eight-time All-Star also represented the US internationally. From the mid-to-late-2000s, we have a stick used by the superstar, with this specific type of model seeing use in both 2006-07 and 2007-08. A Warrior Dolomite model with “M. Modano” factory graphics, a production code stamp is found on the underside of the shaft. Retaining Modano's original tape job of black over both the blade and handle/knob, the stick displays with moderate-to-heavy use with numerous marks and abrasions over the slightly tacky feeling shaft while the blade tape, with numerous small tears has marks over both sides as well. Additionally, a red coloured mark is observed over the tape at the knob. Hailing from the personal collection of Brian Skrudland, a former teammate of Modano's during Dallas' cup winning season of 1999, an LOA signed by him will accompany the piece.
