A fullback who played his college football as a member of the University of Kansas Jayhawks, John Riggins would be selected with the sixth (6th) overall pick of the 1971 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and go on to play a total of fourteen (14) years in the National Football League, split between the Jets as well as the Washington Redskins, whom he helped to a Super Bowl ring in 1982. Inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992 and known for being a classic workhorse ball carrier who specialized in the tough yardage in the big games, offered here is this full-sized replica Washington Redskins helmet that has been signed by Riggins. Made by Riddell, with the company's branding over the top of the face mask and strap of the chin cup, Redskins decals are found over each side with white and yellow stripes running front to back over the top. Complete with all the padding on the interior, strapping harness and face mask, Riggins has signed over the left side of the helmet with a large gold ink signature that displays without issue and includes a "HOF 92" inscription. Remaining in overall excellent condition with just a couple of paint chip spots behind the left ear, the helmet comes accompanied by a Redskins COA.
