A classic set that is high up on everybody’s want list in the hockey card hobby, O-Pee-Chee’s 1971-72 set is offered here with the assembly highlighted by five (5) BVG (Beckett) or PSA graded offerings. Paced by a NEAR MINT 7 copy of Ken Dryden's key rookie card, the Canadiens netminder is joined by teammate Guy Lafleur on his first-year cardboard example that has earned an EXCELLENT 5 for its effort. Also including BVG slabbed examples of card #100 picturing Bobby Orr (EX-MT 6) and card #111, the checklist for cards #1-132 (NEAR MINT 7), the 2nd series checklist, listed as card #264, the last in the set, has been assessed a mark of NM-MT 8 by the graders at PSA. All of the BVG and PSA holders remain in excellent condition, displaying with just a small number of light scratches worth mentioning for accuracy. For the rest of the set, an overall a nice mid-range set made up of cards seen as being in the condition scope of EX, with some VG-EX to EX and EX-MT examples are also present, the assembly's other key rookie card of Marcel Dionne, #133 in the checklist, is found to be in the neighbourhood of VG-EX and has a small surface fold/crease on its lower edge with wear to the corners also observed all the way around. With the key cards in the same grade range listed above, a few cards with a small crease were spotted throughout including 71-Lemaire and 152-Goring while cards 110-T. Esposito, 253-P. Esposito All-Star, 245-Orr Norris and 256-Plante All-Star have multiple creases.
