The 12th overall selection by the Calgary Flames at the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, Gary Roberts would play a total of 1224 games played during his career with Calgary, Carolina, Toronto, Florida, Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay. A Stanley Cup champion with the Flames in 1989 and a three-time NHL All-Star, offered here is this Toronto Maple Leafs jersey worn by Roberts during the 2003-04 season, specifically during the "Hall of Fame Game" which took place at the Air Canada Centre on November 1, 2003 against the Philadelphia Flyers. Made by Koho with a lone size "56" tag affixed to the inner collar, a Koho patch has been added over the reverse neckline of the tie-neck style garment while the NHL shield has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a vintage style Maple Leafs team crest that has had "Toronto Maple Leafs" and other details embroidered into it, the all-important "Hockey Hall of Fame Game" patch has been added over the right breast while the distinguished alternate captain's "A" has been sewn over the left breast. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Roberts' number "7" in single layer blue twill numerals, "Roberts" is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate across the top of the back. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves with the latter also showing board burns and coloured paint transfers as well. With light sweat and other staining observed throughout the entirely of the piece, a MeiGray tag numbered "B08359" has been added inside the reverse hem and according to the company's population report, the jersey is a "Third HHOF Game w/A" offering. Having been signed by Roberts over the top of the "7" on the reverse with a bold silver ink signature that displays without issue, a matching MeiGray LOA will accompany the piece.
