Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/20/2024
A charter member of the National Hockey League that set up shop way beforehand in 1909, the Montreal Canadiens lay claim to the most Stanley Cup championships in NHL history with a total of twenty-four (24) and have had some of the best players in the history of the game to don their famed bleu, blanc et rouge. Offered here, we present this collection of Montreal Canadiens items that is paced by a copy "Maurice Richard: Reluctant Hero" that has been signed by twenty-two (22) Habs players that includes numerous HHOF inductees. Ringing in at 160 pages and remaining in excellent condition overall, those that have signed inside the front cover include deceased HOFers H. Richard, Lach, Geoffrion, Moore, Bouchard, Beliveau, Olmstead, Johnson as well as Moore, Hodge, McNeil, Bonin, Hicke, Talbot, Goyette, St. Laurent and many others. Also including a group of sixteen (16) hockey programs from games played between January 14th, 1956 and September 27th, 1958 that have been bound in a leather book. Mostly for non-NHL games except for a January 14th, 1956 game against Boston and a September 27th, 1958 pre-season game against AHL Rochester, the pages remain in good condition with some toning evident from age while some separation of the spine is seen to the first few pages in the book. The red leather cover with "Forum" in embossed gold letters display in good condition as well with some like corner and edge wear seen. For the rest of the collection, included is a group of signed vintage postcards that includes the likes of Henri Richard, Jean-Guy Talbot (x2), Dollard St. Laurent (x2), Don Marshall (x3), Claude Provost, Tom Johnson, Marcel Bonin and Phil Goyette (x2) as well as modern example of Jean Beliveau and Patrick Roy. With all the vintage offering in good condition despite some wear to the edges and corners as well as hand written notations on the reverses of some, all the autographs are signed in blue ballpoint pen and display well while the signatures of Beliveau and Roy are signed in silver and blue marker respectively and display well despite a bit of wear on the Roy autograph that is worth mentioning for accuracy. Finished off with an additional group of unsigned vintage post cards from the late-1950s up to the 1970s (same condition as those above) as well as some vintage early-1960s action photos from a game against the New York Rangers that show wear through some creasing and small tears on some of the included examples, don't miss out on this awesome lot of Canadiens memorabilia.
