Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

This vintage 1934-35 Montreal Maroons team photo montage offered its original buyers an opportunity to obtain Maroons and Canadiens wool jerseys. The reverse of the 12” x 8” image indicates that the price of the photo was 25 cents from Uniform Reg’d, located at the corner of Amherst and Ste-Catherine Street East in Montreal. It also lays out in detail, in French and English, what hockey items would be given as a bonus to the seller for volume sales of the photo, including Maroons and Canadiens hockey socks, sweaters, hockey pants and other pieces of hockey equipment. This edition of the Maroons was the second team in the franchise’s brief history to win the Stanley Cup, with stars such as Connell, Lionel Conacher, Trottier, Northcott, Smith, Blinco, Wentworth, Haynes and Webster. A young Dave Kerr is also shown as the team’s substitute goalie in this photo montage produced by Rice. The photo shows light overall wear, and would look stunning in a frame. A nifty collectors item of a successful yet short-lived team from the NHL’s early days.
