Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Dating all the way back to the early years of the 1900s when real cars originating in both the United States and United Kingdom were introduced, the 1:64 scale toy car as we know it today was introduced in the early-1950s and made popular by brands such as Corgi, Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Offered here, we present this collection of forty-five (45) National Hockey League and Major League Baseball 1:64 scale cars made by Corgi. All sporting a copyright date of 1982 on either the front or back of their backing, the lot featuring most still in their original packages includes a total of twenty-four (24) hockey examples with teams such as the Blackhawks (x2), Rangers, NHL (x3), Canadiens, Islanders (x4), Sabres, Flyers (x2), Nordiques, Canucks, Red Wings, Capitals (x2), Kings (x2), Devils, Blues and Bruins while the baseball specimens total twenty-one (21) and feature the logos of the Mets, Pirates, Mariners, Blue Jays, Brewers, Twins, Padres, Expos (x2), Cardinals, Orioles, Astros, Cubs (x2), Phillies, Royals, Athletics, Indians and White Sox while loose out of package cars of the Dodgers and Yankees are also included. In terms of condition, most are found still housed in their original packaging and affixed to their backing cards with some of the included examples sporting wear such as creasing, bends, surface wear, plastic crinkling, toning, small tears/rips or raising off of the card. Overall a cool group to put a little bit of life in the fast lane in your collection.
