The man credited with bringing the “butterfly” style of netminding to the forefront, Patrick Roy remains the only player in history to garner the prestigious Conn Smythe Trophy an impressive three times. Traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Colorado Avalanche in December of 1995, Roy would post a record of 16 wins and 6 losses during the 1996 Stanley Cup Playoffs as Colorado would claim Lord Stanley's Cup during their first season in "The Centennial State". Offered here, we present this stick used by Roy during his first season as a member of the Avalanche. A Koho Revolution model in Colorado's white, black and maroon colours, "P. Roy" is found stamped to the upper shaft. Retaining its original tape job of white tape over the blade and lower paddle, black on the handle and white-over-black on the knob/upper shaft, the top portion of the paddle on the forehand side has been signed by "St. Patrick" with a black marker ink signature that displays well despite its age. Exhibiting moderate game-use throughout, puck marks are observed throughout the forehand side including over the blade tape, paddle and shaft where a red post paint transfer mark is seen as well. With additional puck marks on the backhand side of the paddle and blade tape as well, a few of small yellowish coloured stains are spotted near the top of the paddle that are worth pointing out for accuracy.
