Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
The legend of Fred "Cyclone" Taylor is told in this fascinating 1977 book by Eric Whitehead. Early hockey's greatest superstar, Taylor was often the object of bidding wars to secure his services. He displayed his brilliance with teams in Houghton, Ottawa, Renfrew and Vancouver and his scoring feats are legion. This copy of his noteworthy story has been signed by 39 HOFers, with the majority now deceased (there are a total of 44 signatures, with 5 players signing twice). Sporting the original dust jacket, the book has been signed in vertical rows on the first 5 pages, along with a page at the end of the book. With the majority of the signatures executed in black or blue ink, signers include Joliat, Bill Cook, Reardon, Beliveau, Blake, Lach, Abel, Johnson, Schmidt, Harvey, the Rocket, Lindsay, Cowley, Apps, Hull, Clancy, Armstrong, Hewitt, Bailey, Kelly, Goodfellow, Campbell, Drillon, Plante, Bathgate, Tretiak, Howe, Dutton (2), Schriner (2), Oliver (2), Mosienko (2), Hextall (2) and a few others. The signatures display well, with light wear to the book and moderate wear including a few tiny edge tears to the dust jacket. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
