Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/28/2023
Remembered historically for the power outage at Boston Garden that suspended play during the second period of Game 4 of the 1988 Stanley Cup finals, the NHL deemed that the May 24th contest would be replayed in its entirety if needed, with this never occurring. Wayne Gretzky and the Oilers would win the series without incurring a single loss. This stunning original framed painting of The Great One during the 1988 Stanley Cup finals was created by renowned Edmonton artist Steven Csorba. At approx 20” x 30” and depicting Wayne in stunning photo-realism as the superstar maneuvers around a panicking Reggie Lemelin, the original work features a layered and textured surface along with crisp and defined detailing, including each player’s perfectly executed uniform. Double-matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 24 1/2” x 34", the artist has signed within the bottom right in silver.
While all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occurs during shipping.
