Founded in 1964 as a charter team of the then-Western Canada Hockey League, the Saskatoon Blades are the only club that has played every season in the league in its original location. Having made five (5) appearances in the WCHL/WHL Championship Series and sporting an NHL alumni list that includes names such as Bernie Federko, Brian Skrudland, Wendel Clark, Kelly Chase, Tony Twist and numerous others, offered here is this Saskatoon Blades WCHL game-worn jersey that dates to the late-1960s. A durene-knit construction offering that is void of any labeling affixed to its interior, the classic blue, white and yellow tie-neck style garment measures out to roughly a modern size "46" after quick check. Decorated over the front of the jersey with "Blades" arched gently across the chest in dual layer blue-over-yellow tackle twill letters, the number "20" appears underneath in matching style with the number also repeated on the sleeves and reverse in the same way as well. Attributed to the Blades of the WCHL due to the placement of the numbers on the front on the jersey in correlation with the upper blue stripe below it, the placement of the numbers on the sleeves and the placement of the team name “Blades” in correlation with the lower eyelets, players attributed to have worn the number in the era include Don Kodak (1967-68), Jerry Germann (1968-69), Ken Goldlein (1969-70 - only played in 4 games) and Fred Williams (1971-72). Displaying with excellent game-wear throughout its entirety, stick marks are observed over the front and both sleeves with the sleeves also displaying battle scars in the form of numerous board burns and coloured board paint transfer marks as well. Also showing numerous unrepaired holes and fabric runs to the body and sleeves, patched team repairs are present in the area of the right elbow, lower reverse near the right hip and on the backside of the left arm. Finally, more board burns are seen over both shoulders and light pilling on the interior plus small repairs inside each cuff and a reinforcement repair inside the reverse hem.
