A journeyman who played with nine (9) different NHL teams over the course of his 18-year career, Grant Ledyard would play in a total of 1028 games in the National Hockey League despite going undrafted and also played for Team Canada at the 1985 and 1986 IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships. Inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in 2005, offered here is this Washington Capitals jersey worn by Ledyard during the 1987-88 season, his first in the United States capital after being acquired by the club via trade from the Los Angeles Kings. An air-knit construction garment made by CCM, a Maska label displaying a faded size "54" designation that has been penned in blue ballpoint pen ink is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM small block style logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Having had "Washington" embroidered into the front of the jersey with "Capitals" applied below in single layer tackle twill letters, a row of alternating blue or red tackle twill stars observed under the collar. Featuring more red and blue tackle will stars going down both sleeves, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Ledyard's number "26", worn by him only during his first season with Washington, in blue-over-red dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Ledyard" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting excellent game-wear throughout, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves while both sleeves also show board burns and red coloured board paint transfer marks as well. Displaying additional battle scars in the form of very light pilling at the ned of each cuff, team repairs over the lower reverse and right sleeve, some light pilling is also present on the interior while sweat staining is found around the collar.
