Originally drafted 210th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 1992 after playing his junior hockey with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, Jeff Toms would never suit up for the Devils, instead suiting up in the NHL for the Tampa Bay Lightning, Washington Capitals, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Panthers to the tune of 236 games over the course of eight (8) seasons in the league. Also enjoying a lengthy career in Switzerland, offered here is this Washington Capitals jersey worn by Toms during the 1998-99 season. Made by CCM and featuring both size "58" and a partially sewn over "Goalie Style" label affixed to the inner collar, the emblems of both CCM and the NHL shield have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Captials team crest that features embroidered and textured details throughout, matching alternate logo patches have been placed over both shoulders as well. With "Capitals" spelt out in embroidered letters over a sewn on twill layer that has been added over the lower reverse, the sleeves and verso of the garment have been styled with Toms' number "21" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Toms" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the back. Displaying a Capitals team stamp over the elbow on the inside of the right sleeve that denotes the jersey as a "25th Anniversary - 1998-1999 Set #2" offering, the jersey shows with just very light wear, seen through a light stick mark over the lower front and some frayed/loose threads on the interior while the sleeves have also been taken in to Toms' liking. Additionally, some light salting is present in the snaps of the fight strap along with some spots stains throughout the body and sleeves.
