Drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Derek Roy went on to play 8 seasons with the club, along with single seasons with the Stars, Canucks, Blues, Predators and Oilers. Roy also represented Canada in the 2018 PyeongChang Olympic Games, tying for first in scoring for Team Canada with two goals and five assists. This Sabres jersey was worn by Roy on Lafontaine Night on March 3rd 2006, against the Leafs, where he scored a hat trick. The third set 2 jerseys were also worn for 8 games from 12/30/05 to 4/7/06 according to MeiGray's population report. The size tag indicates it is a size "52" on the inner collar and the back of the collar has a "Reebok" patch. The MeiGray patch on the inside hem states "NHL game-worn jersey 2004-2005 season C01794" and according to MeiGray's population report, the jersey is a "Third Set 2" with a "Pat Lafontaine #16 Patch" on the right breast. There is also a "2005-2006" patch on the inside hem indicating the actual season the jersey was worn as 2004-05 was a lockout year. The MeiGray LOA confirms that "this Third Set 2 jersey was worn by #9 Derek Roy during the 2005-2006 National Hockey League regular season". The lower right sleeve has an unrepaired board burn. The left sleeve has a half dozen or so game marks, including a stick mark. The front of the jersey has a half dozen or so small game marks, including an unrepaired hole and a red paint transfer on the hem. On the inside of the jersey, near both underarms, exhibits some pilling. Accompanied by a MeiGray LOA with the Authentication Program number C01794 matching the one on the jersey.
