Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023

Bobby, Bobby and Gordie, along with the rookie cards of three Hall of Famers lead this rather pleasing ensemble of Topps’ popular/challenging 1967-68 issue, with cards making up the assembly found in the fairly uniform condition range of VG-EX to EX for their effort though around a dozen of the 132 specimens do show creases that is worth mentioning for accuracy, most of the cards are affected by corner wear that is generally deemed as being light and expected on cardboard of this age. Paced by a pair of slabbed and graded second year Bobby Orr offerings in the form of his Award Winner and All-Star cards that have been assessed marks of GOOD 2 and VG 3 respectively by the inspectors at KSA, the key cards, found in raw ungraded form, are led by an EX to EX-MT example of card #32, picturing Tony Esposito over the front. Featuring the rookie cards of 3-Lemaire (EX), 33-Sanderson (G to VG - light crease and corner wear), 38-Sather (VG-EX to EX), and 75-Vachon (G to VG - corner wear), the next group of condition leaders, all in the neighborhood of VG-EX to EX, include the likes of 16-Horton (top left corner ding), 74-Beliveau (light corner wear) and 120-Checklist (marked). With VG to VG-EX vicinity cards including 11-Keon (corner wear), 66-Checklist (marked), 70-Cournoyer (corner wear) and 124-Hull AS factory wrinkle in the middle), the cards of 1-Worsley (many light wrinkles from rubber bands) and 92-Orr (2nd card - crease and corner wear) are both viewed as being in the scope of GOOD. Rounded out by a FR range copy of card #113 picturing Bobby Hull (corner wear and back damage) and a a PR to FR copy of card #43 featuring Gordie Howe (creased, corner wear and back damage), a colorful array of desirable collectibles awaits the new owner, with the holders of the two slabbed cards free of unsightly scratches/scuffs. It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of these pieces through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
