Drafted 38th overall by the New York Islanders in 1986, Dennis Vaske played in parts of eight seasons with the club along with just 3 games for the Boston Bruins in 1998-99. This Islanders jersey was worn by the Illinois native in 1997-98, where he dressed in 19 games. Made by CCM and sporting both "Goalie Style" and size "56" labels affixed to the inner collar, both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a familiar Islanders team crest in layered tackle twill that also displays with embroidered details, "28" appears over the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, with "Vaske" spelt out in single layer navy twill letters across the affixed nameplate at the top of the reverse. The jersey shows just light use with a few dark marks to the team crest and lower front. The reverse of the team crest has been signed by Isles equipment manager Joe McMahon, with "1997-98" and "#5".
