Originally drafted 44th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Mathieu Garon would play a total of 341 games in the NHL during his career, backstopping for teams including Montreal, Los Angeles, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Tampa Bay over that time. Traded to the Penguins from the Oilers on January 19th, 2009 and playing in four (4) regular season games down the stretch, Garon would have a front row seat as the Penguins defeated the Detroit Red Wings to claim Steeltown's 3rd Stanley Cup championship. Offered here, we present this Penguins third jersey worn by Garon during his lone season with the club in 2008-09. Made by Reebok and displaying partially sewn over "Goalie Style" and size "58" labels affixed to the inner collar, the crests of both the NHL and Reebok grace the front and reverse necklines of the garment respectively. Decorated over the front with a vintage style Penguins team crest that features both embroidered and textured details, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Garon's number "32" sewn to them in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Garon" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting a Penguins team tag that is sewn inside the reverse hem, the jersey remains in excellent condition with no obvious signs of game-wear except for some light fraying and loose threads on the interior. A Penguins LOA will accompany the piece.
