Originally drafted 30th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft and also by the Winnipeg Jets 64th overall in the same year's WHA Amateur Draft, Jim Hamilton would go the route of the National Hockey League after playing his junior hockey with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey Association, suiting up in ninety-five (95) games over the span of eight seasons in the league. Offered here, we present this Penguins home jersey worn by Hamilton in his time with the club during the 1983-84 campaign. A heavyweight mesh construction garment made by Sandow SK, a small amount of the brand and washing instructions labels remain affixed to the inner collar while the jersey itself measures out to roughly a modern size "52". Having had a "Sandow SK" wordmark logo screened over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a rubberized screened-on Penguins team crest while the sleeves and verso have been accented with Hamilton's number "13" in matching style dual layer black-over-white rubberized screened-on numerals. With the nameplate having long been removed from the upper reverse, leaving evidence of its former placement through numerous loose threads and light adhesive residue around the edges, the cuffs of the jersey have been customized to Hamilton's liking by being cinched in a bit and shortened a bit on both sides. Worn for a total of five (5) games during the season, the jersey shows light but clear game wear through stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves while the sleeves also both show board burns as well. Displaying additional battle scars via a trio of team repairs on the left sleeve, the interior of the jersey shows a small number of loose threads and a customized loop style fight strap inside the lower reverse and has been photo-matched to a team-issued postcard of Hamilton that shows a match to the thin black line and its placement/spacing around the outside of the Penguins team crest. An LOA will accompany the piece.
