Playing his junior hockey with both the Thetford Mines Canadiens and Montreal Junior Canadiens, Marc Tardif would be drafted 2nd overall at the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft by the Montreal Canadiens and win Stanley Cup's with the famed bleu, blanc et rouge in 1971 and 1973 before jumping ship to the WHA to play for the Los Angeles Sharks, Michigan Stags and Quebec Nordiques. Winning a pair of AVCO Cup championships during his time in the rival league and first overall in WHA goals all-time, Tardif would once again find himself back in the NHL when the Nordiques were included in the 1979 WHA-NHL merger. Playing an additional four (4) NHL seasons before retiring, offered here is this Nords jersey worn by Tardif during the 1981-82 season. Made by Maska, a partly detached brand label is affixed to the inner collar along with a washing instructions tag that displays a faded size "48" designation. Displaying a Maska logo that has been embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a Nordiques team crest in layered tackle twill while heat pressed on fleur-de-lys grace the lower front and reverse as well as both shoulders and show heavy cracking, a commonplace on this pre-1991 Quebec jerseys. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Tardif's number "8" in heat pressed blue coloured numerals, "Tardif" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, the numbers on the sleeves and verso are also heavily cracked while the letters in "Tardif" are found to be in overall good condition. Signed by Marc over the front crest with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue despite some light fading from age, the jersey exhibits good game-wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves while a couple of light board board burns are found over both sleeves as well. With the right sleeve also sporting some red coloured board paint transfer marks, good pilling is found on the interior as well as the original ribbon style fight strap. An LOA will accompany the piece.
