A product of the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League, Matt Carkner would go on to play in a total of 237 NHL games over the course of his career after being drafted 58th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 1998 NHL Draft. Skating with the Cleveland Barons of the AHL for a total of five (5) seasons, offered here is this Barons jersey worn by Carkner during the 2004-05 season. Made by SP, both size “58” and SP labels are affixed to the inner collar. Featuring AHL patches over the reverse neckline and hem, the SP logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Decorated over the front with a Barons team crest that features embroidered details, the captain’s “C” worn by Carkner during the season sits over the left breast while a Cintas sponsorship patch has been added over the right side. Having had Matt’s number “2” sewn to the sleeves and verso in tri-layer stacked tackle twill numerals with matching Barons alternate logo crests over each shoulder, “Carkner” has been spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate on the reverse. Exhibiting excellent game-wear, stick marks are present throughout both sleeves and the body while the sleeves also show board burns and coloured paint transfers. Additionaly, team repairs are observed over the lower front and right sleeve while a rip is found in the black piping stripe of the left sleeve as well. Sporting pilling on the interior, a Barons LOA will accompany the piece.
Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched with Getty Image #51858981 (November 6th, 2004 vs Hamilton) to the black stick mark on Carkner’s right sleeve.
