Leading the NHL in points in six seasons throughout his HOF career, Mario Lemieux made his presence instantly known as a rookie, scoring 100 points in 73 games in 1984-85. A two-time Stanley Cup champion as a player who have adversity like no other during his storied National Hockey League career and the only player able to be compared to the likes of Wayne Gretzky, offered here, we present this copy of Mario's all-important rookie card that was part of O-Pee-Chee's 1985-86 hockey release, found at #9 in the checklist. Having been inspected and slabbed by the graders at Beckett, this particular example of Mario's first-year cardboard was deemed worthy of a NM-MT 8 assessment for its effort, with subgrades of Centering 8.5, Corners 7.5, Edges 8.5 and Surface 9 also being displayed along the bottom of the label. Retaining beautiful colours while being slightly off-center from right-to-left, the card presents with a clean reverse and largely avoids the rough cut edges that O-Pee-Chee releases of the era are known for an plagued by. Housed in a Beckett holder that shows light scratches over both sides, the card is sure to be a welcome addition to your all-important collection.
