A product of Bowling Green State University who got his first taste of pro hockey with the Cincinnati Stingers of the WHA, Mike Luit would go on to play 664 National Hockey League games over the course of 13-years with St. Louis, Hartford and Washington. Named to the NHL All-Star Game in 1981, up for grabs here is this “Coliseum Club Player of the Month” award presented to Luit by the Hartford Whalers in October of 1989. Finishing the 31 day period of time with a record of 4-2-1, the square shaped silver plate measures 10 ½” x 10 ½” and is engraved over the front with “Hartford Whalers Hockey Club - 'Coliseum Club Player of the Month – Mike Luit – October 1989” with a Whalers logo in similar style in the middle. Sporting a “Made in Brazil” sticker affixed to the reverse, a stamp reading “Merididnal – Silver Plated – “100” – Brazil” is found over an edge on the reverse. Remaining in overall good condition, scratches are seen over both sides that are heaviest on the reverse, tarnishing spots are seen over both sides as well, once again heaviest on the reverse.
