Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

A Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in 2011, Ed Belfour tended the crease in a total of 963 games over the course of his National Hockey League career despite going undrafted. Suiting up for teams like Chicago, San Jose, Dallas, Toronto and Florida in the NHL, “Eddie the Eagle” would hoist Lord Stanley’s mug in 1999 with the Stars. Offered here and hailing from his personal collection, is this pair of pro stock CCM Gatekeeper goalie pads issued to Belfour by the company in the mid-2000s. In a navy, white, and silver colourway with size
36” + 1 identifiers over the bottom of each pad, CCM brand logos have been embroidered into the top of each pillow while additional logo patches for CCM and the NHL are found on the outside of each as well. Displaying with no obvious signs of game-use, some handling marks are observed and an area of discolouration is present at the top of the right pad that is worth noting for accuracy. Featuring all intact and accounted for plastic snap buckles and nylon straps as well as leather boot straps and metal buckles, also included with the pads is a pair of early-to-mid-2000s CCM Heaton 10 sticks issued to and signed by Belfour. In Toronto’s blue and white colourway, the sticks have never been taped and display well with no structural issues but do show handling marks throughout. Sporting date stamps of "28 AVR 2004" and "10 DEC 2004" over the backside of the hand grip and having signed over the blade of each with a black marker ink signature, one autograph displays without issue while the other shows lightness from age. With everything hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany.
