Transitioning to the Toronto Maple Leafs in the early-2000s after winning a Stanley Cup with Dallas in 1999, Ed Belfour would make his sixth and final appearance at the NHL All-Star Game during his first season in Ontario in 2002-03, and see action in seven playoff contests. Offered here, is this set of pads issued to “Eddie the Eagle” for use during the 2002-03 season. CCM Heaton 10 model pillows decorated in the Maple Leaf’s blue, white and silver colourway, “Belfour” has been embroidered in blue thread into the outside upper portion of the right pad. Issued but never having been worn, the pads display and remain in fantastic condition with just a couple of light storage scuffs present over the face of both and some light decolourization /soiling from age to the nylon portions of the faces, outsides and leg channels as well. Complete with all the strapping, buckles and lacing it should be noted that some of the straps and buckles do show some cracking to the leather. Additionally, also included with the lot is a stick used by Belfour as a member of the Maple Leafs during the early-to-mid-2000s. A CCM Heaton 10 model twig, “Ed Belfour” is stamped to the upper shaft and the stick retains its original white tape over the knob, handle and blade. Exhibiting good game-use, puck marks are present throughout the handle, paddle and blade while various marks and abrasions are present and observed throughout. Exhibiting red post paint transfers over the upper shaft, the stick remains structurally sound with a small crack/chip on the back side of the shaft worth pointing out for accuracy. Additionally, Belfour has signed over the blade with black marker ink signature that still displays well. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany.
