Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Featuring the top 12 hockey nations in Group A, the 1994 IIHF World Championships witnessed Team Canada go undefeated, and win the gold medal in a closely-checked game against Finland. Darryl Sydor would star on the blueline for Team Canada, and we offer a pair of team-signed sticks used in the tournament. Sher-Wood models with "Sydor" stamped to the upper shaft of each, there is original tape over the shaved handles (loose strand on one stick), with the blade tape possibly removed on one stick (no traces remaining), and Team Canada decals affixed to both, each stick has signatures on one side in black marker (one stick was first painted white before the signatures were applied), with mainly the same players signing both give or take, including Sydor, along with Kariya, Shanahan, Sakic, Fiset, Rutledge (trainer), Poirer (trainer), Stafford (staff), Emerson, Blake, Corson, Duchesne, Ranford, Verbeek, Richardson? and others. The signatures are somewhat bunched-up, with light use shown on the sticks. An LOA from Classic Auctions will accompany.
