Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Harder to find than team jerseys, we offer 1970s WHA Quebec Nordiques and 1980s AHL Hershey Bears equipment bags. Originating as the San Francisco Sharks and slated for play in the inaugural season of the WHA in 1972-73, the club relocated to Quebec before the season began to become the Nordiques, and would compete in each of the WHA’s seven seasons. In solid royal blue with red handles and white accents, a Nordiques logo is screened over one side, with a Gerry Cosby plastic label affixed to the zipper to facilitate use. “15” is also screened between the zipper and Nords logo, with “Fortier” visible but hard to decipher (Florent Fortier played 4 games for Quebec in 1975-76, so the bag likely originates with him). Heavy use is exhibited throughout, with marks and wear to the material along with a number of very small and minor holes. The longest continuously operating member of the American Hockey League still playing in its original city, the Hershey Bears are the most successful AHL club in history winning 11 Calder Cup championships. A product of Chocolate manufacturer Milton S. Hershey’s empire, the Bears currently serve as the primary development club for the NHL's Washington Capitals. In solid maroon with white handles and accents, “Hershey Bears” is screened on one side, with “5” screened beneath the ROI label on the opposite side. Exhibiting heavy use with a hole below the screened “Hershey Bears” logo, the bag displays well, and is ready for your AHL collection.
