Nicknamed “The Greek God of Walks” due to his ability to draw a free base at the plate from pitchers, Kevin Youkilis and his unorthodox batting stance would play 10-years in the show including nine (9) with Boston where he would be named an all-star three (3) times, win a Gold Glove Award in 2007 and World Series championships in 2004 and 2007. Earning MVP votes in both 2008 and 2009, offered here is this Red Sox jersey worn by Youkilis when he went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI during Boston’s 12-2 win on April 13th, 2012, the 100th home opener for the club at Fenway Park and the kickoff of Fenway’s centennial season. Made by Majestic, a brand/MLB Authentic Collection jock tag is heat-pressed over the front tail with an MLB hologram affixed while a fabric team tag displaying “20 50 ‘12” sewn into it is affixed underneath. Having had washing instructions and “+3 body” tags adding inside the left hip, the front of the jersey is decorated with “Red Sox” over the front in dual layer tackle twill letters sewn directly to the jersey while red piping is present around the placket and collar. Having had Youkilis' number “20” added to the reverse in matching style under an MLB logo sewn to the back of the collar, the Fenway Park 100 years patch has been added over the right sleeve. Despite being worn for just a single game, the jersey shows heavy wear with dirt stains over the front and lower back and additional marks over the back and sleeves as well. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #143993681 (April 13th, 2012 vs Tampa Bay) to the marks at the left of the Fenway patch on the right sleeve. A Heritage Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
