The Edmonton Oilers honored Hall of Fame defenseman Paul Coffey’s amazing career by retiring his number at the outset of the 2005-06 season. Coffey, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, won the Stanley Cup three times with the Oilers dynasty in the 1980s and scored 48 goals in 1985-86 to break Bobby Orr’s single season record for goals by a defenseman. Edmonton captain Jason Smith wore this jersey against Phoenix on Oct. 18, 2005, when the Oilers raised Coffey’s No. 7 to the rafters at Rexall Place. Coffey placed a bold black marker autograph across the top of the orange twill of the “7” sewn on the right breast of Smith’s “Paul Coffey Night” No. 21 game-worn captain’s jersey. Elite Sportswear and size 58 flag tags sit in the back of the collar. “Edmonton Oilers Paul Coffey Night October 18, 2005” team patch is sewn inside the rear tail. MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2004-2005 Season patch from the previous unplayed season is to its right. Game wear shows in board burns on the right shoulder, board burns and unrepaired burn holes to the left of the signed “7” on the right breast, and a board burn just below the numbers on the left sleeve. Comes with an Oilers LOA signed by GM Kevin Lowe.
