Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
With a history dating back to 1947, the Soviet Wings, founded by the Krylya Sovetov sports society that represented Soviet aircraft industry, has had some of the best names in the history of Soviet and Russian hockey suit up for them such as Vladimir Petrov, Alexander Sidelnikov and Alexander Frolov. Offered here, we present this Krylia Sovetov Moskva (Soviet Wings) jersey worn by Alexei Isakov during the mid-1990s, circa the 1995-96 season. Made by Bauer, "ProWear" and size "54" labels are affixed to the inner collar while a "Russian Authentics" label has been sewn on over the reverse neckline. Having had Bauer logos in both English and Russian embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a Soviet Wings team crest in layered tackle twill style while TDK sponsorship patches have been sewn on in places over both the front and reverse. Accented over the sleeves and verso with the number "18" in either single or dual layer tackle twill numerals, the "Isakov" nameplate that once graced the upper reverse has long since been lost to time since its removal. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows heavy game-wear throughout including stick marks, board burns, coloured board paint transfers, unrepaired holes/cuts and some light spot/sweat staining.
