Drafted 151st overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1984, Derek Laxdal would play 67 games in the National Hockey League over the course of his career, split between the Leafs and New York Islanders before going on to a successful coaching career that has been him win both Kelly Cup and Memorial Cup championships. Offered here, is this jersey worn by Laxdal while playing for the Odessa Jackalopes of the Western Professional Hockey League during the 1999-2000 season. A heavy mostly mesh construction garment made by AIS, a brand/size “58” label is affixed to the inner collar while an AIS/WPHL patch is sewn over the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Jackalopes team crest that features heavily embroidered details, matching alternate logo patches reside over each shoulder and a Miller Lite “True to Texas” sponsorship patch had been affixed over the right breast. Accented over the sleeves and sides with heavy knit Aztec design inserts, the sleeves and verso have had Laxdal’s number “33” sewn to them in drop-shadow white-over-red tackle twill numerals while “Laxdal” is spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting light game-wear, stick marks are found near the right cuff and over the left sleeve and reverse numbers while a board burn graces the left sleeve. With light dirt/sweat staining near the cuffs of both sleeves and inside the collar, the fight strap is also still present on the interior. A fan favourite and seldomly seen minor league design, don’t miss out on this one!
