Founded in 1961, the Kamloops Rockets would win the OMJHL/OJHL (Okanagan-Mainline Junior "A" Hockey League/Okanagan Junior Hockey League) in four (4) of their first five (5) years of existence, losing in the league finals the other year and also claiming provincial Mowat Cup championships in 1962 and 1964. Winning an additional Mowat Cup in 1971, offered here is this vintage BCJHL Kamloops Rockets jersey that dates from the early-1970s. A knit construction garment that is void of any labeling on its interior and measures out to roughly a size "40", wide gussets are found under both arms to widen the piece. Void of a fight strap on the interior, the front of the garment is decorated with a Rockets team crest that includes both embroidered and printed details, with the latter showing some wear. Sporting a sewn on number "14" over the reverse in damaged dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals, small black twill boxes have been added over both sleeves which at one point had "14" over it in matching style felt construction numerals, with only the "1" remaining in its present state on both sides and having lifted off over time. Displaying heavy wear throughout including staining, light stick marks, numerous unrepaired holes of many sizes, pills, coloured board paint transfers and board burns, research shows that in 1972-73, #14 was worn by both Paul Mulvey and Bill Kelts while in 1970-71, Wayne Bianchin is listed as having worn the number but the design of the jerseys were different. No player could be found for 1971-72. Still a cool old relic of a bygone era of junior hockey!
