Toronto's 8th round choice of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft at 151st overall, Derek Laxdal would go on to play 67 games over the course of his National Hockey League career with both the Maple Leafs and New York Islanders between 1984 and 1991. Having enjoyed a long coaching career that has produced both Kelly Cup (ECHL) and Ed Chynoweth Cup (WHL) championships as well as a Memorial Cup crown in 2014, offered here is this AHL Newmarket Saints jersey worn by Laxdal in the late-1980s. Made by CCM and void of any tagging affixed to the inner collar, the jersey measures out to roughly a size "50 and had had a red, white and blue CCM logo embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Saints team crest that has had "Saints" and other details embroidered into it, the sleeves and verso of the Ultrafil garment have been styled with Laxdal's number "8" in single layer numerals while "Laxdal" is spelt out in single layer blue twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, the outline of a removed alternate captain's "A" is observed over the left breast. Featuring a customized garter and skate lace fight strap on the interior that has been sewn on over the original one which has been cut out, the jersey exhibits moderate game-wear in the form of stick marks throughout the body and both sleeves, team repairs to the lower front and left sleeve, board burns over both sleeves, coloured board paint transfers along the right elbow, an unrepaired cut near the left cuff, and pilling throughout the interior as well as the collar.
