Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

Nicknamed "The Shawville Express", Frank Finnigan was an early NHL star with both Ottawa and Toronto, and was the last surviving member of the 1927 Stanley Cup champion Senators. Originating from his personal collection, we offer 8 sheets of paper with Finnigan Clarendon Inn Letterhead (his hometown in Quebec), three envelopes and a half pack of matches, with the matches picturing Finnigan on the reverse in his Leafs uniform. Next, there is a Kiwanis felt team crest taken from a wool jersey, with the crest still affixed to a section of the jersey, with this heavily faded, and a "Montagnard AA" jersey crest dated 1950-51. The lot also contains a pair of matching F Lacombe hats in a Stetson box, with a small card tucked into each band that states "NHL 75th Anniversary Train Ride Toronto - Montreal October 2, 1991". Due to the fact that Finnigan died in December of 1991 at the age of 90, he most likely did not make this trip. Both hats remains in beautiful condition, with a slightly musty smell.
