Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
The last surviving member of the 1927 Stanley Cup champion Ottawa Senators, Frank Finnigan was a part of the 'Bring Back The Senators' campaign team in 1990 that was successful in creating the new Ottawa franchise. A two-time Stanley Cup champion, "The Shawville Express" also took part in the famous Ace Bailey benefit game in 1934. These photos originate from his personal collection. Included, there are two matching cabinet photos circa-1915 (one is framed) that appear to the show Finnigan with one of his youth teams (he is in the bottom right), with the photo and mount 12" x 15", the second framed to 15" x 17" (wear to the mount on the unframed example, silvering to the framed photo). This is followed by the 1914 Shawville Hockey Club cabinet photo (growing up in Shawville, he possibly had a relative on this team), with the total dimensions 16" x 20", with wear to the mount and a few marks to the photo. Next, there is what appears to be an original photo of Finnigan with the Leafs, circa early-1930s, 8" x 10" and framed, and a reproduction composite photo of the Ottawa Senators, 8" x 10" and framed. Lastly, there is a band photo that comes from his collection, with the photo and mount in rough condition (16" x 20").
