Enjoying an NHL career that spanned a total of 570 games despite originally going undrafted, David Clarkson would win a Memorial Cup as a member of the Kitchener Rangers in 2003. A feisty winger during his playing days that was not afraid to mix it up on the ice, offered here is this New Jersey Devils jersey worn by Clarkson in his final year with the team during the 2012-13 season. Made by Reebok and having had a lone size “58” tag affixed to the inner collar, the crests of both the NHL shield and Reebok are found over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled over the front with the familiar Devils team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Clarkson’s number “23” in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill numerals. Displaying “Clarkson” spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate, the bright red garment displays game wear via stick marks over the front and both sleeves while the sleeves also showcase numerous team repairs to each as well as board burns, small unrepaired holes and small spots of red board paint transfers. Having had a MeiGray tag numbered “JH00859” sewn into the rear hem on the interior, according to the company’s population report, the jersey is a “Red Set 1” specimen and will be accompanied by a matching Devils LOA. Additionally, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #164101362 (March 19th, 2013 vs New York) to the team repairs above the numbers on the right sleeve with a copy of the image included with the piece.
