Having already established themselves as the premier NCAA Div 1 baseball program in the United States by the way of College World Series wins in both 1991 and 1993, the 1996 edition of the LSU Tigers would build on this reputation by compiling a 52–15 overall record, including going 20–10 in the Southeastern Conference and winning the SEC championship as well. Winning the South II Regional of the NCAA Tournament to become one of the eight (8) programs granted a spot in the College World Series (along with Alabama, Florida, Wichita State, Clemson, Miami (FL), Florida State and Oklahoma State), the Tigers would knock off Wichita State, Florida and finally, Miami (FL) in the final to claim LSU's 3rd national championship in baseball and the first of back-to-back titles. Offered here, we present this 1996 LSU Tigers Baseball National Champions ring that was presented to then Louisiana State University president, Allen Copping. A beautiful piece of jewelry weighing approximately 58 grams and measuring out to a size 8, a baseball with "LSU" in purple on top of a zirconias base is seen on the face with "Fighting Tigers" spelt out above and below while everything is flanked around the edge by "National - 1996 - Champions". Sporting the SEC logo, "Copping" and "Champions LSU" on one shank, the score line of the CWS Final over Miami (FL) plus the College World Series logo are found over the other. Stamped with "Jostens 14k" inside the band, all the zirconias remain present and accounted for on the tableau. In terms of condition, the ring exhibits light-to-moderate wear that is worthy of mention including light scratches and a few small dings visible over the exterior band and along the edges, with a few minor blemishes to the interior band as well, none really affecting the eye appeal of the ring.
