Drafted 52nd overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 1980 after three (3) seasons with the Northern Michigan University Wildcats in the NCAA, Steve Bozek would go on to play a total of 641 games in the National Hockey League, split between Los Angeles, Calgary, St. Louis, Vancouver and San Jose. Offered here, we present this Calgary Flames jersey worn by Bozek during the 1987-88 season. Made by CCM, the Air-Knit Maska tag has been torn out of the inner collar and the CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Measuring out to roughly a size "48", the front of the jersey is decorated with a Flames team crest in stacked tri-layer tackle twill style, the patch worn by the franchise during the year for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games that was hosted that year by the City of Calgary has been affixed over the left shoulder. Accented over the sleeves and verso with Boozer's number "26" in dual layer red-over-yellow tackle twill numerals, "Bozek" is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting good game-wear throughout, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves while board burns and coloured board paint transfers are seen over both sleeves as well. Sporting an additional battle scar in the form of an unrepaired hole through the first layer of material in the right elbow, light pilling is observed on the interior and spot staining is present throughout the piece.
Addendum; The jersey was also used in the 1986-87 season and was recycled to the following 1987-88 season for Bozek. The difference of the size/font of the letters on the nameplate, which were bigger on the 1986-87 jerseys, shows that the jersey was first worn in 1986-87.
