A Canadian junior hockey hotbed for a total of twenty-three (23) seasons from 1971-72 to 1993-94, the Victoria Cougars would win the WHL championship for the 1980-81 season with a roster that included future NHLers such as Grant Fuhr, Barry Pederson and Bob McGill. Offered here, and hailing from the era of the early-to-mid-1980s is this Victoria Cougars game-worn jersey. A mesh construction offering made by Cardinal Sportswear & Crests out of Vancouver that dates between the 1983-84 and 1985-86 seasons based on research, a brand label and washed out fly tag for the size are affixed to the inner collar. Measuring out to roughly a size "50" for its effort and decorated over the front with a Cougars team crest that features printed details, the sleeves and verso of the garment have been accented with the number "28" in sewn on dual layer tackle twill numerals. With evidence of a formerly applied nameplate appearing over the upper reverse, research shows that the number was worn by Kevin Evans during the 1985-86 season though no other players could be identified for the other years this style was worn. Showing good game-wear throughout including numerous stick marks, coloured board paint transfers, unrepaired cuts/holes, board burns, spot/sweat stains and general discoloration from use and age, the interior is void of a fight strap and displays good pilling at the elbows. Additionally, it is also worth noting that some of the hem stitching has let go as well. Overall, a cool survivor from a bygone era of junior hockey!
