Playing three (3) years of his junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings before being traded west to Victoria for the start of the 1990-91 season, Dwayne Newman would serve as the captain of the Cougars in both of the seasons he would play there, suiting up in 144 games overall and netting 27 points to go along with 286 penalty minutes. Offered here, we present this Victoria Cougars jersey worn by Newman during his final season of 1991-92. Made by CCM, the remains of a Maska Ultrafil label are affixed to the inner collar along with a size "52" fly tag while both the CCM and CHL logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and decorated over the front with a Cougars team crest that features beautifully done embroidered details, the outlines of the captain's "C" and WHL 25th anniversary crest appear over the left and right breasts respectively while the outline of the formerly in place "Victoria '94" patch is seen over the left shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Newman's number "4" in dual layer white-over-red tackle twill numerals, the nameplate has been removed from the upper reverse and is no longer present, though the outline of its former placement is. Displaying excellent game-wear throughout its entirety, the jersey shows battle scars via numerous board burns, stick marks, a repair to the seam at the back of the collar (likely ripped during a fight), unrepaired cuts/holes, small coloured board paint transfers and stains/foxing thoughout as well as pilling on the interior. Of note, there is a small unrepaired hole over the left breast caused by the removal of the formerly applied captain's "C".
