Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
Playing a year of junior hockey in the OHA with the London Knights, Bert Wilson would go on to play a total of 478 games in his National Hockey League career, suiting up for the likes of the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames over that time after being drafted 23rd overall by the Rangers at the 1969 NHL Amateur Draft. Offered here, we present this Kings jersey worn by Wilson during the 1979-80 season, his last in Los Angeles. A mostly mesh construction offering with a tattered Goodman & Sons tag that displays a size "48" designation affixed to the inner collar, knitted purple stripes are inserted into both sleeves and well as at the hem. Decorated over the front with a layered Kings team crest that features beautifully embroidered details throughout its entirety, the sleeves and verso of the garment have been accented with Wilson's number "8" in dual layer purple-over-white tackle twill numerals. Having had "B. Wilson" spelt out in matching style letters that have been affixed directly to the material at the top of the reverse. Exhibiting good game-wear, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves while additional battle scars are found in the form of board burns and coloured board paint transfers. Also showing team repairs to each sleeve (three on the left side and two on the right), the interior of the jersey sports a snap style fight strap (moved up from its original position) and good pilling.
