Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Featuring the early equipment and dress of the period including fingerless gloves, lace-front jerseys and thick, heavy ring bats, we have a framed photo of the 1887 Blue Line Base Ball Club; Champions of the Niagara District. With an image area of 7 1/2" x 9 1/2", the full nine are pictured in a studio setting, with the photographer WM Farmer listed over the bottom left. The photo is crisp and clear, with intricate details showing, with no condition issues whatsoever. Set in what appears to be the original frame to full dimensions of 13" x 16", there is a piece of newsprint affixed to the reverse with "1947" handwritten detailing that the team pictured is actually "Winona", and the league they played in was "Blue line". The players are also named. There is some toning to the photo's mount, and some wear to the antique frame.
