Agreeing to face Muhammad Ali on 17 days notice after the champ refused to apologize in front of the Illinois State Athletic Commission for his "unpatriotic remarks" regarding the Vietnam war, George Chuvalo was currently serving as the Canadian heavyweight champion. The bout took place on March 29, 1966 at MLG with Ali winning by unanimous decision. We have two original photos from the weigh-in for the fight, both signed by Chuvalo and encapsulated as Type I Authentic by PSA/DNA. Both approx 8" x 10", one photo shows Ali on the scale, with Chuvalo signing at the base in ballpoint with "Hi Peter I'm Checking Ali!!", while the second photo shows Chuvalo on the scale while Ali looks on in the background. He has signed this photo "Hey Peter Keep Punching". There are stamps on the reverse of each photo stating "Boris Spremo The Globe and Mail" along with the stamped date of "March 29, 1966".
