A two-time Stanley Cup champion with Calgary in 1989 and Detroit in 1997, Mike Vernon would also take home the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the playoffs during the Red Wings cup run of 1997. A veteran of 19 National Hockey League seasons who registered over 300 career wins, offered here is this San Jose Sharks jersey worn by Vernon during the 1997-98 season that has been photo-matched! Made by Nike with combined brand/size “56G”, Center Ice Authentic Collection and “Made in Canada” tagging affixed to the inner collar, both the NHL shield and Nike swoosh logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Sharks team crest that features embroidered details, matching alternate logo patches reside over each shoulder. The sleeves and verso of the garment have had Vernon’s number “29” sewn to them in dual layer teal-over-black tackle twill numerals while “Vernon” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear, light puck marks are seen over both sleeves and the front while pilling is found at each cuff, heaviest on the left one. Additional wear is seen via a number of fabric snags/pulls throughout along with staining that is seen over various areas of the garment including through the team crest and around the nameplate. Accompanied by a Sharks COA denoting the jersey as a 1997-98 offering, the piece has been photo-matched with Getty Image #275684 (March 24th, 1998 vs Los Angeles) to the puck mark at the left shoulder, the fabric pulls in the lower grey stripe on the front and the angled placement at the bottom of the teal layer in the “2” over the left sleeve.
