Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023

Often said to be one of the most visually appealing sets that Parkhurst ever put out, the 1963-64 release would be the company’s last. Featuring a checklist that included 99 cards in total, players from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings are featured with none more important to the set in terms of value than card #55 of “Mr. Hockey”, Gordie Howe. Having been examined by Canadian company KSA, the card has earned a mark of ENM+ after inspection. Showing with pleasing centering over the front and bold colours that display well, light-to-moderate toning is seen over both sides of the card that pictures Howe in front of an American flag background. Sporting relatively sharp corners that show light wear/dings, a small crease is seen at the upper right-hand corner that is surely the cards largest deterrent. Housed in a KSA holder that light scratches/scuffs over both sides, don’t let this important offering slip your all-important vintage collection by.
It must be noted that the grading standards followed by KSA may not correspond to those currently employed by PSA, BGS or SGC. The outcome of an attempted cross-over of this piece through any of those services, then, would be uncertain and cannot be guaranteed.
