Finishing the 1958-59 OHA Junior “A” regular season with a record of 29-20-5 in 54 games played, the Peterborough TPT Petes, coached by future HHOFer Scotty Bowman, would defeat Barrie, Guelph, St. Michaels and Ottawa-Hull to advance to the clubs first Memorial Cup Final where they would be defeated by the Winnipeg Braves. Offered here, is this collection of memorabilia from that storybook season for Peterborough that includes a team signed stick, vintage promotional team photo and a framed team photo as well. Starting the with the stick, a Sherbrooke Wood Products made example stamped over the upper and lower shaft with “Pro Special – Right – 7”, penned to one side of the stick in now oxidized fountain pen is a notation that reads “TPT Petes – OHA + Eastern Canada Champions (58-59) – Memorial Cup Finalists – TPT Petes vs Winnipeg Braves – 1958+1959” while on the opposite side, twenty-two (22) members of the team have signed the stick in a mix of pencil, pen and marker with all the signatures remaining legible despite some being lighter than others. Those that have signed include; Tom Clark, Chuck Hamilton, Denis DeJordy (played with team during Memorial Cup only), Chuck Adamson, Tom Thurlby, Bill Mahoney, Jim Roberts, Wayne Connelly, Barclay Plager, Wayne Boddy, Herb Payne, Pat Casey, Jacques Caron, Bob Rivard, Fred Dart, George Montague, Gary Darling, Larry Babcock, Larry Kish, Gunner Lynch, and Scotty Bowman while one signature could not be identified. The stick remains in good condition showing just light handling wear and marks in areas, Additionally, also included with the lot is an 8” x 10” promotional team photo of the 1958-59 TPT Petes that was distributed by Review Weekly and remains in good condition with light handling wear and light creases at the edges/corners with light spotting stains/foxing seen on the reverse while being free of tears. Lastly, a 16” x 20” modern photograph taken during the presentation of the J. Ross Robertson Cup and displaying that information along the bottom is also included. Double matted under black and maroon mattes and housed in a tasteful black frame with full dimensions of approx. 28 ½” x 25”, the frame shows light wear/dings to the edges and corners worth pointing out.
