Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/27/2023
Representing one third of the famous “French Connection” line that played for the Buffalo Sabres, Rick Martin would spend all but four (4) games of his National Hockey League career in Buffalo’s blue and gold, helping them to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1975. Another in a long line of high-grade offerings being made available to the hobby from our consignor, it is our pleasure to offer here this copy of Martin’s 1975-76 O-Pee-Chee card that has earned PSA’s top grade of GEM MT 10 after their inspection. A pop-1 offering of this particular card, of the almost 12,000 cards submitted to PSA over the years from this set, only 347 of them have earned the same grade as of this writing. Ringing in at 48-years-old, the card is the pure definition of perfect and shows attributes that support the claim including pinpoint centering, beautiful colours, smooth edges, pack fresh corners and clean surfaces that are all that more apparent when being held in hand. A truly special card of a truly special player from hockey’s roughest decade, the card is preserved in a PSA holder that shows just a small number of light scratches over both sides worth mentioning.
